What File Do I Need for Custom Printing and Embroidery?

The single thing that slows an order down most is artwork we cannot use. Send the right file and we go straight to a proof. Here is what prints and embroiders cleanest, and what to avoid.

Vector is best

Vector files, AI, EPS, PDF, and SVG, are built from math, not pixels, so they scale to any size with perfectly crisp edges and no blur. They are ideal for logos and text, and they separate cleanly into colors for screen printing and digitize cleanly for embroidery. If you have a vector logo, send that.

High resolution PNG or JPG works too

If you do not have vector, a PNG or JPG is fine as long as it is 300 DPI at the actual size you want it printed. The catch is resolution. A logo saved off a website is usually 72 DPI and will print blurry and pixelated. A screenshot almost never works. When in doubt, bigger and sharper is better.

Transparent background

For anything that is not a full rectangle, send a PNG with a transparent background, not your logo sitting inside a white box. Otherwise that white box can end up printed around your design.

A note for embroidery

Embroidery needs your art turned into a stitch file, a step called digitizing. Clean vector or high resolution art digitizes best. Very fine text, thin lines, and gradients do not embroider well, so simple bold shapes give the best result.

Do not have the right file?

Send us the best version you have. We check every file before anything prints, and if your art needs to be cleaned up or redrawn we tell you the cost first. Nothing gets charged or printed without your approval, and every order gets a proof you sign off on.
